PARTNERS OF SEX ADDICTS SUPPORT GROUP:
This Group is designed to support the partners of sex addicts.

Partners of sex addicts often assign too much time, attention and value to another person while neglecting to care for or value themselves. Focus on the partner is obsessive, and fear of abandonment drives the obsession.

During this 14 week process, participants will have the opportunity to begin healing the grief of relational betrayal. They will explore their relational templates, develop communication skills, establish boundaries, set goals, and move to places of personal empowerment. We will incorporate the work of Stefanie Carnes, Claudia Black and Pia Mellody.

Meets every Wednesday 7:00 – 8:30 pm.
1002 N. Crosby Street
This is an ongoing group.
Please call 312-335-1428 to reserve your spot

CO-DEPENDENCE/LOVE ADDICTION/AVOIDANCE SUPPORT GROUP:
This Relationship and Codependence Support Group aims to help individuals who struggle with self-care, self-worth and healthy boundaries, individuals who have experienced recurring, disappointing or painful relationships, and individuals trying to improve their current relationship/marriage. This group aims to help anyone interested in learning more about the care of self, relationship dynamics and management.

MEN'S RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUP:
Healing from Sexual Addiction

Sex addiction can take over a life as quickly as any drug addiction, and can become potentially far more destructive. We’ve made promises vowing to cut down our use, renewed our efforts to quit downloading images that we can’t get out of our minds. Perhaps we’ve had affairs, visited prostitutes, gone to strip clubs, maybe repeatedly, and maybe even in spite of severe negative consequences such as separation and divorce, or termination from our job.
This 14 week program will give each participant tools needed to sustain sobriety from compulsive sexual behavior. Each of the men will review their own personal histories, triggers and boundaries related to their behavior. We will explore healthy sexuality and intimacy, and create a strategy for relapse prevention.

This group will meet on Wednesdays from 8:00 pm-9:30 pm, and costs $50 each session. There is an expectation, for the effectiveness and cohesion of the group process, of commitment to the entire 14 weeks, thus $700 for full registration.

Please call Bob Weaver, 312-320-0341, for more information and to register for this group. Bob Weaver, LCSW, is a certified sex addiction therapist, trained by Patrick Carnes, and has twenty years of experience as a therapist. The group will meet @ 115 N. Oak Park Avenue, Suite 300, Oak Park 60301.

HEALING TRAUMA EMPOWERMENT INTENSIVE:
Healing Trauma Empowerment Intensive is a 3 day workshop that investigates the origins of adult dysfunctional behaviors. In this revolutionary educational and experiential process, participants discover, identify and address those early childhood wounding, which have inadvertently led to addictions, compulsive behavior, depression, eating disorders and painful relationships. The Healing Trauma Empowerment Intensive is about getting in touch with the feelings that follow any aspect of childhood that was somehow hurtful and resulted in grief and anguish in our adult lives. The Healing Trauma Empowerment Intensive is separated into three phases: Informational Phase - Participants learn about boundaries and how, as a child, boundaries may have been violated. Participants begin to understand the relationship between the child and the adult as perceived by the child. Debriefing Phase - Participants delve into the past and recollect childhood experiences and identify the (often painful) feelings that are associated with those experiences. Experiential Phase - Hedy Tan, CSAT, CADC, RRS Coach guides participants to re-experience childhood in a safe and supportive environment. They will release painful emotions, decrease over-reaction in present day life, and begin to reclaim their rights and personal power.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9:00a.m- 7 p.m. $1200. For schedules of dates, or to register, please call 312.335.1428 or email hedytan@aol.com.
A $500 deposit will reserve your space.

SPEAKING SEMINARS:

PAST EVENTS:
The Meadow Institute presented a luncheon on Sex Addiction. November 8, 2002 Radisson Hotel & Suites, 160 E. Huron, Chicago, IL 60611 11:00am-1:00pm. Hosted by Hedy Tan, CSAT, CADC, RRS Coach and Dr. Weitzner. A fine line exists in our society between what may be considered acceptable sexual behavior and what is sexually addictive or compulsive. The elements of sex addiction are the same as in any addiction: compulsion, continuation despite adverse consequences, and preoccupation or obsession. Hedy Tan addressed women sex and love addicts, as well as the concepts of love addiction and love avoidance. John Weitzner discussed male sex addiction: definition, causes, the addictive cycle, and levels and assessment of sex addiction.
